NEW SEASON: Pride and Prejudice

Opening our 2024 season is a work of classic literature. Pride and Prejudice, one of Jane Austen’s most famous novels, has been adapted for the stage by Kate Hamill. Kate Hamill’s shows have graced the Yorkshire Playhouse stage in the past (Little Women and Sense & Sensibility). Hamill breathes life into these classic novels with witty humor, relatable characters, and endearing romance.

Pride and Prejudice is the story of the Bennet sisters and their lives in the early 1800s. Lizzy Bennet, the second oldest of the five sisters, does not pine for romance like her sisters do. Even though a wealthy marriage is the only hope Lizzy has of a successful future, she is determined to remain a free spirit. When Mr. Darcy enters the picture, Lizzy deems him proud, arrogant, and unworthy of her time. However, Lizzy begins to realize she may have judged Mr. Darcy too quickly.

Yorkshire Playhouse will be presenting Pride and Prejudice on February 9-11, 15-16, and 18. It will be the first of five main-season shows in 2024. If you are interested in coming in a large group, or if you plan on seeing more than one show this season, consider purchasing a membership!
