The Cemetery Club Opens Tonight!

Opening tonight! The Cemetery Club: a small-cast romantic comedy!

Despite the misleading title, The Cemetary Club is full of hilarious plots, snarky characters, and sparks of romance. This play features a small cast with quick-witted chemistry. There’s Lucille (Elise Owens), a loud, fun-loving old lady, and Doris (C. Danielle Deal), her judgemental and condescending counterpart. Together with the sweet and optimistic Ida (Kelle Sweazy), these ladies meet up every month for tea before visiting their husbands’ graves. Their routine trip takes an interesting turn when Sam (John I. Baker III), the local butcher, comes to visit his wife’s grave. Ida and Sam hit it off, and Doris and Lucille decide they must ambush the couple before things get too serious!

The Cemetery Club is Ian Wallgren’s directorial debut! Ian has acted in many Playhouse productions and served as the assistant director for Steel Magnolias during its 2023 production. According to Ian, his favorite part about directing was seeing his idea of the show come alive onstage. He is proud of his actors for their ability to use his notes to improve their characters.

The cast and crew of The Cemetery Club have worked incredibly hard over the past five weeks to bring this brilliant show to the Playhouse stage! Join us this week to experience the fruits of their labor!
