I would like to invite your child to audition for the summer 2025 Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theatre production of Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz.

Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz is adapted from the classic children’s book by Ruth Plumley Thompson, based on the orginal Ozian characters of L. Frank Baum. Peter Brown, finds a magic sack that transports him to the land of Oz where he meets Jack Pumpkinhead. While heading to the Emerald City, they lose their way in the Quadling Country. There Peter finds that his empty sack will consume objects and creatures that are scooped into its open mouth. They also find the magic dinner bell of Jinnicky the Red Jinn. They meet up with Snif the Iffin (a griffin who has lost his "gr-" and is no longer able to growl) and Baron Belfaygor, who has a rapidly growing beard that he must constantly cut away. The local villain, Mogodore the Mighty, and his army march to take over the Emerald City. Peter's group races to save the city and restore order in Oz.

We’re collecting all the information the director would normally collect on an audition form. Please know your conflicts before you begin the form. It’s better to list something you find out later will not interfere, than to have left it out. Thanks!!

Unfortunately, not all children who audition can be selected for the production.  Please prepare your children for the possibility of not making the production after auditioning. Those who make the production are expected to be at all rehearsals, and ready to work on the show.  Theatre is team art.  Every cast member is important, and without complete cast commitment, the final production suffers.

Each participant in The Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theatre must pay a joining fee of $75.00 to be in the production.  The fee includes the production script, production T-shirt and two tickets for the production.  Fees are only paid by those who are cast in the production.  Scholarships are available for families who cannot afford the fees.

I hope to see you at the auditions.

 Sincerely,

 John I. Baker III

Director
