2017 Yorkshire Playhouse Board of Directors Nominees
/John I Baker, III
John is a professor at York College teaching theater arts and related subjects. John directs our Children’s Theater Program at the Yorkshire Playhouse. This year will be his 17th year directing. He is also published playwright. John is married to Carol Baker and they have two grown children. He has been a Playhouse volunteer for many years.
“In the past I served on the…Board…(17 years) and after taking off the past 2 years to get revitalized, I would like to step back on...I bring a wealth of knowledge about putting together theatre in the areas of directing, acting, and technical theatre. I would like to help the Yorkshire Playhouse continue to strive to do the best possible…and I am also interested in continuing the tradition of quality children’s theatre in York.”
Danielle Berry-Massey
Danielle is a recent graduate of York College and has a degree in Theater. She is married to Eric Berry-Massey, and they have settled into our community. Danielle works as a Barista at Starbucks. One of her long-term goals is to create a traveling theater company with her husband. Danielle was recently seen in the lead role in the Playhouse production of The Madwoman of Chaillot.
“I would like to serve on the Yorkshire Playhouse Board because I believe I could make a difference and add to the already immense value the Playhouse brings to the community…I would really like to get involved in …bringing theatrical education and awareness to the community…in ways they have not experienced before…I want to dedicate my time to improving the Yorkshire Playhouse and aiding in any effort to expand the influence and love of theatre in the city of York.”
Theresa Christiansen
Theresa has loved theater since she was a small child and was involved with many productions when she was in school. She recently returned to the theatre with her role the Yorkshire Playhouse’s production of The Mousetrap. She has also volunteered behind the scenes and assisted with our recent Sip and Stroll event. She is a registered nurse and works for the state of Nebraska helping people with disabilities. Theresa is married, has two children and one granddaughter.
“I enjoy giving back to the community and I feel we are fortunate to have a theater in a small community like York…I also feel strongly about the performing arts and our youth, so I would enjoy…reaching out to the youth in the community to encourage participation in the arts.”
Kathy Epp
Kathy works for Fillman Law Offices, and has been married many years. Kathy has been a volunteer at the Yorkshire Playhouse for many years both on and off the stage, including serving on the Board of Directors. She has four grown children and six grandchildren who are the light of her life! She enjoys baking and cooking and loves gardening, too.
“I truly enjoy live theatre and would like to have some influence in the types of plays that are performed at the playhouse. I have previously served on the Board of the Yorkshire Playhouse.”
