End of Year Letter from the President 2022
/Dear Members,
We are about to close the cover on the book that has been 2022! Thank you for joining us on our adventures through the many stories of our 49th season of shows at the Yorkshire Playhouse! I am delighted to say we have already produced four mainstage shows and two out-of-season performances this year.
The show to close out the final chapter of our 49th season is coming up December 6th-11th, “Twas the Night before Christmas: A Musical Review”. Come jumpstart your holiday spirit with a musical review of Christmas favorites, old and new, infused with story, dance, carolers, and the festive merriment Yuletide entertainment brings!
This year we launched the Let's Face It Campaign to raise money to help with the cost of the "face" of our building. This was due to unforeseen structural issues and the rising costs of materials. Our goal was to raise $100k and we are nearly there at $96,600. The front of our building will be finished soon! We can't wait for you all to see it!
We have an exciting update to our "Light's Up Campaign". The light board and dimmer packs have arrived! We are eager to get those installed. This year’s Giving Tuesday fundraising is going to help fund our 50th Season! We already have three matching donor sponsors of $500 and are looking to add more.
I also want to celebrate the Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theater for making their return back on to the stage with their spectacular performance of "Peter Pan"! It's been a rough couple years navigating through what life has thrown at us, but we want to commend John Baker and the rest of the parents, volunteers, and of course the children for all their hard work and dedication.
In last year's letter, we mentioned we created another option for our youth actors by tailoring the in-season summer performance for pre-teens and teens. This year they have a name, Rising Stars! This next year due to the 50th season schedule, the Rising Stars will join up with another mainstage production at the end of the year!
Thank you for being a part of this amazingly challenging and rewarding year for the Playhouse. We hope you enjoyed the performances, whether you were able to come out to the Playhouse or view them from your living room. Your support is why we are able to do what we do.
Before you go, I wanted to let you know two things. First, thank you so much for being Members in 2022.
Second, for the first time in many years ticket prices and membership prices are rising in cost. Please look at the box office on our website for the details. That’s it. I’ll return you to the excitement of our updated website filled with new shows and the hope of another wonderful new year of entertainment from the Yorkshire Playhouse. Oh, and yes, it is our 50th Season!
We hope you’ll join us on Member Night, November 21st. We’ll have refreshments and an opportunity to reserve tickets to “Twas the Night before Christmas: A Musical Review” and purchase your Membership for our 2023 Season!
Sincerely,
Lauran Ostberg
Yorkshire Playhouse Board President
